Making News

This year, Up Here is celebrating a milestone – our 25th year in print. In January, to mark that achievement, we published our “25th anniversary special.” That publication, and our big birthday, attracted press coverage from across the North and South. The Globe and Mail newspaper featured us in their Jan. 17 “On the Stand” section.

Also in mid-January, Canada’s other national newspaper, the National Post, ran an article about Up Here’s 25 years in print.

Local media got in on the coverage as well. Our magazine’s founder and still-publisher, Marion Lavigne, discussed the anniversary, and the magazine’s seat-of-the-pants launch, with the Yukon News. And editor Aaron Spitzer discussed both the founding of the magazine and its health for the future with CBC Whitehorse's Dave Croft.

Lavigne also went on CBC Yellowknife’s afternoon radio talk-show, Trail’s End, speaking about the magazine with host Norbert Poitras. Have a listen below.
