Iqaluit (pop. 7,740), located on a southern peninsula of Baffin Island, is the capital city of Nunavut. This is the centre of the Qikiqtaaluk region that includes communities on Baffin, Ellesmere, several arctic islands and the Melville Peninsula. Visitor attractions include festivals, Qaummaarviit Territorial Park in Frobisher Bay, Sylvia Grinnell Territorial Park within city limits, the Legislative Assembly building, and Nunatta Sunakkutaangit Museum.
